With prices coming down, driving range going up, new models hiing the market and an expanding network of public charging stations, EVs are more accessible—and appealing—than ever. In 2011, only 215 fully electric new vehicles were registered in this country, according to Statistics Canada. Last year, that number was over 39,000. It's still just a fraction of the 1.38 million new gasoline-powered vehicles registered over the same period, but by 2035, the federal government has mandated that all new light-duty cars and trucks must be zero-emissions vehicles.
